What to bringHere is a list of items that we recommend you bring with you.
|
Our support team are trained in First Aid and Rescue Techniques. They also carry first aid kits and tow lines on the water, in case you are finding the paddle tiring.
|
Things to rememberPlease be aware that some items (such as glasses or water bottles) may get lost during our paddles due to weather conditions or immersion. While capsizing is NOT a common occurrence, we advise you to prepare for this situation. Therefore, it is recommended that glasses/sunglasses have a strap or string to secure them to your buoyancy aid. Our support team can advise you on securing items.
Kayaks, paddles and buoyancy aids are provided by the club. We can supply buoyancy aids in varying sizes. There is also the option to paddle in either a single kayak or a double kayak. A double Kayak can be paddled with either another club member, a family member or a member of the support team, depending on personal preference. We can also provide canoes. |
What to wearIdeally, as you are paddling in chilly water, a neoprene wetsuit, neoprene boots/shoes, a thermal base layer and a cagoule to keep the wind off your upper body would be a good idea.
However, we understand that not everyone has these so here are a few suggestions:
Please remember the water can be cold, even in summer so it is important to dress for immersion. |
